Award for Contributions to Research Integrity

The Award for Contributions to Research Integrity was established to recognise, reward and highlight examples of good practice that have made a contribution across research excellence, research culture, ethics and data access.

The award supports the strategic aims of the Institute鈥檚 coordinated research integrity activities, ensuring that the Institute meets the requirements expected of it and to provide confidence that its research is of the highest standard.

Contributions might include, but are not limited to:

  • Promoting scientific rigour
  • Sharing innovative approaches to data stewardship
  • Promoting education and discussion of ethical issues in science
  • Actively promoting the dignity, rights, safety and well-being of staff
  • Promoting open research and peer-review
  • Promoting a research culture where the contributions of all staff are recognised

2024 Winner

The Award for Contributions to Research Integrity was awarded to Dr Trevor Smith, Health and Safety and Quality Assurance Manager, for his long-term commitment to supporting research integrity, especially recognising that his knowledge and expertise were instrumental to embedding research integrity at the Institute, not least with undertaking reviews of research integrity to secure continued progress towards excellence in research integrity practices.


2023 Winners

The three winners of the Award for Contributions to Research Integrity demonstrate the Institute鈥檚 organisation wide commitment to best practice and efforts to promote open and fair science for all. They were:

  • Emily Watson, Research Assistant
  • Cass Flowers, Chief Information Officer
